“I thirst”

In mystical theology, many mystics speak of a time when they experience the absence of God. These times are referred to as “dark night of the senses”, “dark night of the soul”, “spiritual drought”, “spiritual dryness”, “spiritual desolation” and “spiritual depravation”

There have been many reasons given as to why people go through this. What is written here are God’s reasons.

Question: God, what do you call this state where a person doesn’t hear from you?

God’s answer:

Dormancy

Dormancy/dormant is defined as: “in a state of rest or inactivity; inoperative; in abeyance”1.

Question: What exactly is dormancy? Is this the “dark night of the senses” or “dark night of the soul” or “spiritual drought” or “spiritual dryness” or “spiritual desolation” or “depravation”?

God’s answer:

“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”

Question: So, they are all the same?

God’s answer:

Synonymous
